Review: L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask – Comforting and Unifying

I usually buy the cheap “3 for $5” masks from my drugstore, and they’re fine and fun. But I wanted to look into nicer masks that I can use a couple times a week and really see the benefits. I keep seeing commercials and advertisements for the new L’Oreal masks and finally purchased one (about $14 CAD) – which really isn’t that bad.

What it claims: “Immediately: Skin looks refreshed and feels comfortable” & “skin needs cleaning that is effective yet gentle and non-irritating. This Pure-Clay Mask addresses your concerns for comforted and unified skin”

I have stated before but I have oily, acne prone skin. I have had a handle on it lately, but with the cold of winter (thanks Canada), my skin gets angrier. So I lathered on a layer and gave it a go. I put a thin layer on my face (avoiding eye and mouth) and wait about 10-15 minutes. So I put it on and watch YouTube videos on my phone and relax. It was a pretty simple wash off, none of that sticking and stuck on issues. The only thing is it’s messy and blue and will tint whatever you’re using to take it off.

My skin definitely felt refreshed and less irritated and it was a fun, pampering process. It suggests to use it twice a week so I’ll keep trying it out and let you guys know if anything amazing happens. Here’s me with it on (enjoy).

Mellow Out with Me

Everyone has “those days” where work was rough, life seemed tiring and it was just a long day, or week. So tonight I treated myself with a mini pamper me routine.

I cooked dinner with my family, some comforting time and food. Then watched some comedy shows to get in a good laugh. For me laughing is one of the best de-stressers, you can’t be mad or frown while laughing. Finally I splurged on a white macadamia cookie and mindlessly scrolled through Youtube – of course while sipping my decaf pumpkin spice tea. And now I am in my cozy spot writing to you guys, this has been such a great creative, and stress relieving¬†outlet. I will make my to-do list for tomorrow so I can stop worrying tonight.

Later I’m going to do a face mask, and put some leave-in conditioner into my dry hair and maybe even add an extra fuzzy blanket to my bed. I will spray (more than a couple pumps) of my lavender sleep aid onto my pillows and meditate for 10 to 20 minutes.

Meditation has been a life saver. It allows me to step back and take time for me, but productive time. Although it may seems like not being able to do anything for 10 minutes is not helpful, when you are done with the meditation the level of zen and balance expands and enables you to work even more focused and more attentively.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

It’s all about you and the pamper.

So lately I have not been actively blogging (and I’m sorry) but I’ve come into some health issues and the best advice I’m finally taking is sometimes ‘it’s all about you’. So I’ve taken the last little while to focus on priority matters and focus on myself. This has come to me re-taking up yoga, and walking a bit more. Spending time with friends and family and of course and mostly at home with my dog. So what’s some pampering I’ve picked up? Here’s a list.

  1. face masks – are amazing, and fun to experiment with.
  2. bathes – not only good for a sore body and stress relief, but with some scented bubble bath; winning combination.
  3. comfy clothes – sometimes it’s nice not to stress about what you’re wearing and some yoga pants and a long t-shirt go a long way.
  4. yoga – good for the body and mind.
  5. meditation – the just re-centres me and allows me to truly focus on how I’m feeling and let’s me breathe
  6. no makeup – now I know not everyone is comfortable but you should try it, it is freeing.
