I know this time of year is crazy for most people, so I like to simplify my makeup look all while still feeling pretty and pulled together. I know it may look like a lot, but it is so quick and to the point that you could pretty much be out the door in 20 minutes.

Throw on some christmas music and off we go!
I started with moisturizing my lips and applying my pore minimizing serum. I then went in with my tinted moisturizer and blended that all out. I dabbed on a light layer of my cream eyeshadow which was a brownish metallic. I blended it out of course. I then went in with my green concealer and dabbed on some acne that popped through the tinted moisturizer. I concealed with my age rewind stick under my eyes and over those couple of acne spots. I honestly don’t mind having some show through because I like the bare face feel, but a little coverage is nice. I then went in with my palette. All over the lid I applied ‘rebel’ and dabbed ‘rocker’ into my inner corners. For some flare I added ‘firecracker’ dead center of the lid. I finished off by blending some ‘flower child’ into the crease to lighten it up and for just under the eyebrow I put ‘charmer’.
To finish off I concealed over my acne, T-zone and under eyes with my powder foundation by Clinique.
I prefer natural eyeshadow bases and mixes. I recently picked up the Maybelline The Nudes Eye Shadow Palette and it’s not bad. It only retails for around $12 CAD which for a palette is a steal. However, the pigmentation needs a lot of build up; but for $12 we can afford a little more product usage.
Below are the swatches compared to the palette colour:
All shadow swatches are with one layer directly to skin. As you can see some barely show, and some show just sparkle. After layering a bit and warming up the colours however they really start to pop. Overall I say worth the money.
I previously did a post about how to do the perfect winged liner, now its time to step it up and review some handy liners that actually don’t make your life difficult.
My first step in this process was tight lining with the Marc Jacobs liner. It is small and compact and allows for a fine line. It is also very workable and easy to fix mistakes with a quick q-tip swipe. After this I used the thicker Maybelline liner. I sometimes struggle with the thickness in creating a finer line, but paired up with the Marc Jacobs in order to extend into a wing – is excellent.
The textures are creamy, and thicker making it not likely to slide off your face when oil or water comes into play. Although not water proof they have both proven to be durable. The Marc Jacobs liner usually retails around $31 CAD and the Maybelline is under $10 CAD.
What’s great about the Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner by Marc Jacobs is it comes in your basic blacks and browns and then fun colours like purple and blue. This to me is an added bonus.
Hello ! Ok so getting right back into it – it’s thanksgiving in Canada and soon to be America. So here was my full face of products to look amazing and flawless.
I start with my Estée Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Serum and layer my everyday moisturizer on top. I then go in with my Tartelette palette by Tarte and use lots of browns, nudes, and of course some gold or silver. I then exfoliate my lips with a tooth brush to get off dead skin and apply some lip balm (I love blistex). As I’m letting this soak in I then move onto my face. For a flawless but buildable look I use the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation. It’s incredible (I did a review previously). I’m using a new powder by Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin pressed powder. This has some coverage as well, which is great as my acne-prone skin is breaking out with all the turkey, stuffing and ham happening. I then touch up with some Mac Bronzer and finish with some highlight. I love the Clinique powder, no I have not been able to find it again – I place it only on my under eyes instead of concealer. It does not crease or slide off by the end of the night. I finished with some liner by Rimmel and a dark burgundy lipstick. And finally my love of mascara Voluminous by L’Oreal. I set everything with my L’Oreal Infallible finishing spray.
This routine for my oily skin not only provides non-cakey coverage but lasting coverage and gives me confidence for all the lunches and dinners that come with holidays.
