Birthday Full Face Makeup Routine*

Hello again!

So I recently turned 23 and although I don’t wear makeup often, it was fun to do it in full for this occasion.

Let’s get into it.

I started with my Clinique moisture surge moisturizer (not imaged above), and followed up with my Estée Lauder Idealist Serum. I then went in with my Tartelette in bloom eye shadow palette – that I am absolutely still obsessed with.

712-alt-2 I went in with a shimmery light nude (first column, third row) and followed into the corner of my eye with a red-ish brown (fourth column, third row). I blended out with a more matted brown (second column, first row) and highlighted with a nice light shimmer (third column, first row).

I went into the corner of my eye with the NYX wonder pencil to really make it look open and pop.

I then buffed in my BareMinerals Complexion Rescue tinted moisturizer, and covered dark circles and blemishes with my Clinique Beyond Perfecting powder foundation. I love this combination because it is medium coverage yet still looks light and airy.

I finally finished with L’Oreals new Voluminous lash primer (amazing) and topped it with their original black Voluminous mascara. And yes – I completely forgot to take a picture of my finished face.

Overall, this makeup made me feel confident, fresh, put together and I had fun doing it.

Out the Door in 3 Minutes

Sometimes we wake up late and sometimes we just seem to run out of time but we need go-to’s to feel put together in a hurry. I have broken it down to a 3 minute routine with only 3 products. It is my essentials – mascara, concealer, lipstick – that’s it.

I used the Clinique High Impact mascara, which feels light but makes your eyelashes look beautifully long and natural.

Then my all time favourite concealer, boi-ing by Benefit. It’s super creamy and high coverage, so I place it under my eyes to lighten the dark circles, and over a couple of blemishes. I find even with acne-prone skin, this concealer doesn’t break me out and allows for my natural skin to be more prevalent while covering some blemish areas.

Finally lipstick. I love this colour, I got a sample from Sephora of this Marc Jacobs lipstick in the colour berry rouge. I will be purchasing the full size once this is complete. Love the smooth and easy application, and it doesn’t dry your lips out so there are no cracks and flakes.

The final product, is as follows. You can still see some under eye area but that’s the point, we do not need to look flawless. It’s about enhancing what we love most in ourselves, and feeling confident. And it helps that this routine is under 3 minutes. img_8603

Review: Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara

Back to the good, reliable drugstore mascaras. I do love the high end ideas, but for me mascara is mascara – I struggle to spend over $20 on it. I picked this little beauty up at Winners for about $7 CAD.

I like my lashes to be dark, thick and long. This does it for me. The only downside is that’s about 2 or 3 coats in. Which is fine by me, but if you have sensitive eyes may be an issue.

I also find it doesn’t clump instantly which is a huge bonus, and does last most of the day. It is not however waterproof – so no tears. But this does make it very easy to take off. I do my regular makeup remover wipes and some cleanser and problem solved; mascara gone.

Overall I give it 4/5 thumbs up.

No-makeup, makeup in Under 5 Minutes

For those lazy days, or off days where you need to look somewhat put together – no makeup makeup is perfect.

I use about 3 sometimes 4 products. BB cream, mascara, eyeshadow (basic) and sometimes powder. That’s it. If I were to put a price on it it would be around $40 for the entire look, but with items that would last you and give good quality.

And to prove how efficient this is I timed myself with a before and after.

Under 5 minutes.
